11% of UK online adults visited an online dating site in May 2025. Dating app reach has remained stable at approximately 10-11% for the past three years.

4% of UK online adults (1.8 million) visited a dating service daily in May 2024.

How Much Time Do People Spend on Dating Apps? (2025)

Time spent on dating services dropped from 3 hours 57 minutes per month in May 2023 to 3 hours in May 2025.

Engagement is declining even as reach stays flat. Users are spending less time on dating apps than before.

Gender Imbalance

What Is the Gender Split on Dating Apps? (2025)

68% of dating site visitors are male (3.6 million). Female visitors fell slightly to 1.7 million.

Male dating visitors increased by 364,000 year-on-year, up from 65% (3.2 million) in May 2024. The gender imbalance is widening.

Are Women Leaving Dating Apps? (2025)

Men now outnumber women on Tinder three-to-one. Tinder female users dropped from 735,000 (3.2%) in 2024 to 384,000 (1.5%) in 2025.

Tinder fell from the highest-reaching dating service among women to third place. Hinge is now the top dating service for women with 2.7% reach, followed by Bumble at 1.6%.

Both Hinge and Bumble also saw lower female numbers compared to the previous year. Women appear to be leaving dating apps across the board, not just Tinder.

How Is Tinder Performing in the UK? (2023-2025)

Tinder reach is 3.1% of UK online adults in May 2025. That dropped from 5.2% in May 2023 to 4.0% in May 2024 to 3.1% in May 2025.

Tinder lost 600,000 users between 2023 and 2024, falling from 2.5 million to 1.9 million. Tinder average time spent is 1 hour 3 minutes per month.

Tinder is no longer the dominant dating app in the UK. It now ties with Hinge for reach.

How Is Hinge Performing in the UK? (2025)

Hinge reach is 3.1%, now level with Tinder. Hinge reached 2.9% (1.4 million) in May 2024, down 131,000 from the previous year.

Hinge average time spent is 2 hours 34 minutes per month, more than double Tinder's engagement. 72% of Hinge visitors were aged 18-34 in 2024.

Hinge was the only top 10 dating service where women outnumbered men in 2024, with 53% female users. It remains the preferred app for women.

How Is Bumble Performing in the UK? (2024)

Bumble reached 2.3% of UK online adults (1.1 million) in May 2024. That was down 368,000 from 1.4 million in 2023.

Bumble average time spent is 2 hours 9 minutes per month.

How Popular Is Grindr in the UK? (2024)

Grindr reached 1.9% of UK online adults (913,000) in May 2024.

Grindr average time spent is 7 hours 2 minutes per month, the highest of all dating services. Users are more than three times as engaged as Hinge users.

What Age Groups Use Dating Apps Most? (2024)

18-24 year olds had the highest dating service reach at 18% (943,000). 25-34 year olds reach was 17% (1.5 million).

66% of Tinder visitors and 72% of Hinge visitors were aged 18-34. Dating apps skew heavily toward younger adults.

55-64 year olds spent the most time on dating services at 5 hours 43 minutes per month, despite lower overall reach. Older users who do use dating apps are highly engaged.

What Happened on Valentine's Day? (2024)

4% of UK online adults (1.91 million) visited a dating service on Valentine's Day 2024.

Tinder had 711,000 visitors on Valentine's Day, followed by Hinge with 669,000.
