How Many People Use Reddit in the UK? (2025)

Reddit reaches 60% of UK internet users. That is up from 48% in May 2024 and 33% in 2023.

Reddit grew 28% year-on-year for the second consecutive year. Reach increased 88% over two years, making it the fastest-growing major social media platform in the UK.

Reddit is now the fourth most visited social media service, ahead of TikTok. It overtook X and LinkedIn in 2024 to become fifth-highest-reaching, and continued climbing in 2025.

How Fast Is Reddit Growing in the UK? (2024-2025)

Reddit reach increased 88% over two years, from 33% in 2023 to 60% in May 2025.

In absolute numbers, Reddit reached 22.9 million adults in May 2024, grew to 24.6 million by June 2024, and continued expanding into 2025.

Daily reach grew from 3.6 million in May 2023 to 4.9 million in May 2024. More users are visiting Reddit and they are visiting more frequently.

What Caused Reddit Growth in the UK? (2024)

Reddit IPO in March 2024 valued the company at £5.0 billion. The public listing may have contributed to increased awareness and growth.

Reddit also began charging for API access in July 2023, potentially driving users from third-party apps to the main site and app.

Reach jumped from 39% (18.3 million) in December 2023 to 44% (20.8 million) by March 2024, an increase of 3.2 million users in one month around the IPO.

How Much Time Do UK Adults Spend on Reddit? (2025)

Reddit average time per day is 4 minutes. This figure remained consistent between 2024 and 2025.

Compared to other platforms, Reddit sessions are brief. Facebook users spend 49 minutes daily, TikTok users spend 32 minutes. Reddit is used differently.

59% of Reddit time comes from men. The platform skews male in both visitors and engagement intensity.

Who Uses Reddit in the UK? (2025)

71% of UK adults aged 18 to 24 use Reddit, up from 58% in May 2023. Reddit rose from 7th to 6th among this age group.

Among 25 to 34 year olds, reach is 63%, up from 49% in 2023. Reddit rose from 10th to 6th among this group.

Reddit debuted in the top 10 for 35 to 44 year olds in 2025, ranked 8th with 66% reach. Growth is spreading beyond young adults.

What Is the Gender Split on Reddit? (2024)

Reddit gender composition is 52% men and 48% women among visitors.

However, 61% of total Reddit time comes from men and 39% from women. Men visit Reddit at similar rates but engage more intensively.

This contrasts with platforms like TikTok and Instagram where women dominate time spent.

Where in the UK Is Reddit Most Popular? (2025)

Reddit appeared in the top 10 platforms in Wales, ranked 9th with 62% reach.

In Scotland, Reddit ranked 10th with 61% reach.

Reddit and AI

Is Reddit Used to Train AI Models? (2025)

Reddit is the most-cited source for Google AI overviews at 2.2% of responses. It is second most-cited by ChatGPT at 1.8%.

For Perplexity, Reddit is the most-cited source at 6.6% of responses.

Reddit has agreed deals for its content to be used as training data for large language models. Reddit and OpenAI have a partnership giving OpenAI access to Reddit data API.

I see this as significant for Reddit long-term value. The platform content is becoming infrastructure for AI systems, not just a discussion forum.

How Does Reddit Compare to Quora? (2024)

Quora reached 31% of UK adults (14.6 million) in May 2024, up 24% year-on-year.

70% of total Quora time comes from men, an even stronger male skew than Reddit.

Both Q&A platforms appeal more to men. Reddit has achieved nearly double Quora reach in the UK.
