How Many People Use TikTok in the UK? (2025)

TikTok reaches 56% of UK online adults. Visitor numbers grew 14% year-on-year, following 13% growth in 2024.

In absolute terms, TikTok reached 24 million adults in May 2024, growing from earlier figures. The platform has shown consistent double-digit growth for two consecutive years.

ByteDance, TikTok owner, ranked 17th overall among UK online services with 56% reach.

How Many People Use TikTok Daily in the UK? (2025)

TikTok daily reach is 21% of UK online adults, representing 10.4 million visitors.

Daily audiences increased 37% year-on-year, significantly faster than monthly reach growth. In 2024, daily reach was 7.6 million adults.

The gap between daily growth (37%) and monthly growth (14%) suggests TikTok is becoming more habitual for existing users, not just attracting new ones.

Time Spent

How Much Time Do UK Adults Spend on TikTok? (2025)

TikTok average time spent is 28 minutes per day for users.

Users aged 18 to 34 spend 49 minutes per day. ByteDance overall time spend increased from 13 minutes in 2024 to 15 minutes in 2025.

Time spent is growing alongside reach. TikTok is capturing more of users attention, not just more users.

How Much Time Do Young People Spend on TikTok? (2024)

UK adults aged 18 to 24 spent 64 minutes per day on TikTok in 2024. This age group accounts for 39% of total TikTok time by UK adults.

Women aged 18 to 24 spent 77 minutes per day, compared to 48 minutes for men in the same age group.

By contrast, users aged 65 and over spent only 2 minutes per day on TikTok. The generational divide is extreme.

Who Uses TikTok in the UK? (2025)

TikTok leans female with 55% female users. 63% of time spent on TikTok comes from women, totalling 32 minutes per day.

39% of TikTok visitors are aged 18 to 34. TikTok female reach is 50% of all female smartphone users.

The female skew is consistent across both reach and time spent. Women are more likely to use TikTok and they use it more intensively.

How Does TikTok Usage Vary by Age? (2024)

74% of 18 to 24 year olds visited TikTok in 2024, up from 72% in 2023.

64% of 25 to 34 year olds visited TikTok, up from 57% in 2023. Growth in this age bracket was particularly strong.

Only 28% of those aged 65 and over visited TikTok. The platform remains predominantly young, though older adoption is growing.

How Do Men and Women Use TikTok Differently? (2024)

Women aged 18 to 24 spent 77 minutes per day on TikTok in 2024. Men in the same age group spent 48 minutes.

Female TikTok visitors overall spent 29 minutes per day, unchanged from 2023. Male visitors increased from 19 minutes in 2023 to 23 minutes in 2024.

Men are catching up in TikTok usage, but a significant gap remains among young adults.

Platform Rankings

Where Does TikTok Rank Among UK Apps? (2025)

TikTok moved to 10th in the overall top 10 smartphone apps with 46% reach.

Among 18 to 34 year olds, TikTok ranked 8th with 65% reach. ByteDance rose from 6th to 5th among 18 to 24 year olds.

TikTok is 10th highest-ranked smartphone app for women at 46% but only 16th for men at 33%. The gender gap affects platform rankings.

How Does TikTok Compare to Snapchat? (2024)

60% of 18 to 24 year olds visited both Snapchat and TikTok in 2024.

The platforms serve similar demographics but different use cases. TikTok is for content discovery. Snapchat is for messaging and ephemeral sharing.

Young adults are not choosing between platforms. They use both as part of their daily routines.
